Climate change impacts

It takes only 115 days for the average Canadian to produce as much greenhouse gases as the average Bahamian will produce over the course of the entire year.  Therefore, April 25th (115 days into the year) is "Climate Change Impacts in Bahamas Day."

The Bahamas are very vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, particularly sea level rise, as “80 per cent of the country's land mass is within 1.5 metres of sea level.”  In addition, increasing temperatures are expected to lead to more frequent and intense tropical storms.
