Climate change impacts
It takes only 88 days for the average Canadian to produce as much greenhouse gases as the average Chinese will produce over the course of the entire year. Therefore, March 29th (88 days into the year) is "Climate Change Impacts in China Day."
"China is already experiencing the effects of climate change. Of particular concern is the affect that climate change has, and will continue to have, on the agricultural sector and Chinese food security. Extreme events, such as droughts, floods, cyclones and tropical storms, are increasing, and glaciers are melting faster and faster, which has implications for the nation’s water supply as well as increasing the risk of the bursting of glacial lakes. More than 400 million people in China are already living with the problem of desertification, partly brought on by climate change. Higher temperatures would also affect agriculture and food production."

Story
“Yan Li says that China will be one of the countries worst affected by climate change. It's already triggered droughts in the North but flash floods and typhoons in the South. These extreme weather events are set to get much worse. Most projections now foretell a bleak water situation for China. No water means no development so it's the hottest issue.”
