Climate change impacts

It takes only 48 days for the average Canadian to produce as much greenhouse gases as the average Laotian will produce over the course of the entire year.  Therefore, February 17th (48 days into the year) is "Climate Change Impacts in Laos Day."

Story

“Laos needs substantial technical and financial support for adaptation to climate change, said the head of the Lao delegation at Thursday’s high-level session at the UN climate change conference in Poland.

Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and head of the Lao delegation Mme Khempheng Pholsena said Thursday (Poland time) that this includes money for capacity development and strengthening institutions. It also includes trying to bring climate strategies into the mainstream of national planning and policy.

'Our country is currently working on a number of strategies that will allow us to more effectively and sustainably manage our natural resources,' she said.”
