Climate change impacts

It takes only 295 days for the average Canadian to produce as much greenhouse gases as the average Omani will produce over the course of the entire year.  Therefore, October 22nd (295 days into the year) is "Climate Change Impacts in Oman Day."

An increase in the occurence of droughts in Oman is having negative impacts on the countries ancient canal systems. Canal systems are being overused due to drier farming conditions and this is leading to water depletion. Oman is highly dependent on agriculture and this could have a negative impact on the economy and the livelihoods of many farmers.
