Palau
Climate change impacts
It takes only 98 days for the average Canadian to produce as much greenhouse gases as the average Palauan will produce over the course of the entire year. Therefore, April 8th (98 days into the year) is "Climate Change Impacts in Palau Day."
The Republic of Palau is facing potential environmental challenges due to changes in the country's climate. A rise in ocean temperatures can cause coral bleaching, and a loss of coral can have negative impacts on other ecosystem components. Another major impact is a rise in sea level, which could threaten the low-lying landscape.
