Climate change impacts

It takes only 23 days for the average Canadian to produce as much greenhouse gases as the average Papua New Guinean will produce over the course of the entire year.  Therefore, January 23rd (23 days into the year) is "Climate Change Impacts in Papua New Guinea Day."

The people of Papua New Guinea are increasingly experiencing the effects of climate change. They have seen a rise in sea level in coastal areas which is causing intrusion of salt water on crops, and forcing many people to become displaced. They are also seeing a severe change in weather patterns interfering with their ways of life.
