Climate change impacts

It takes only 34 days for the average Canadian to produce as much greenhouse gases as the average Tongan will produce over the course of the entire year.  Therefore, February 3rd (34 days into the year) is "Climate Change Impacts in Tonga Day."

The island Kingdom of Tonga faces several immediate dangers due to climate changing including: rising sea-levels threatening the county’s fresh water supply; costal degradation; and endangering the climate sensitive marine fisheries and agriculture industry.

For more information on the dangers Tonga is facing, visit the country profile on the Adaptation Learning Mechanism website.
